Sardonyx

Sardonyx, featuring alternating colors of black onyx and orange carnelian, was ce used to create Roman seals and signet rings as the hot wax used in making the emblems does not stick to it. Later, sardonyx was associated with eloquence, and public speakers wore it to aid their thinking and communication.
