Pyrite Suns are comprised of pyrite crystallization with no matrix and feature radiating golden crystals that sparkle in the light. These are also known as pyrite dollars, sun dollars, or miners dollars. Collected in coal mines 300 feet below the earth's surface, pyrite suns formed more than 350 million years ago! The fanned shape is due to compressed growth between sheets of anthracite coal shale.
